Oral and maxillofacial surgeons (OMS surgeons) have an intrinsic knowledge of the face and its underlying skeleton.
Many OMS surgeons have had experience in their residency training performing a vast variety of enhancing facial cosmetic procedures.
Other OMS surgeons have had additional formal fellowship training in facial cosmetic surgery. Most of the OMS surgeons performing facial cosmetic surgery are dual degree graduates (DMD/DDS and MD). However it is not unusual to encounter OMS surgeons with single degrees (DDS/DMD) performing the same procedures, depending upon their degree of training.
Among the facial cosmetic procedures that qualified OMS surgeons can perform are orthognathic surgery, rhinoplasty (nose), blepharoplasty (eye lid), facelift, browlift and facial skin resurfacing. Please discuss your facial cosmetic concerns with your OMS surgeon.
